Diversity and Inclusion is personal and political. There is no way of getting around that. Step 1. Analysis

Through surveys and interviews, we gather anecdotal data across the organization to identify key DEI themes, find critical dimensions of difference within the culture, and highlight potential blind spots.

We create a written report and use this data to build the framework of the immersive workshop in Step 2.

Mountains Meet Lake
  • A survey to be completed by a majority of team members.

  • Interviews conducted with at least 10 team members (per 100 company employees) for 30 minutes each. Team members must include at least two senior leaders, a critical mass of mid-managers and a few juniors.​

    • Interviews consist of reviewing key themes of the organization and collecting data about the culture/environment.

  • Each interview is transcribed and scrubbed for anonymity. They go into a general summary with data points, key themes, and perception of senior leadership re those issues.

A summary is formalized in a report of your organization’s DEI strengths and challenges.  It will be shared with you. 

 

It also becomes the basis for a customized set of roleplaying vignettes, to be facilitated by actor/coaches in the following module.

Step 2. Immersion

Through these interactive conversations that involve a range of engagement techniques, such as roleplaying, you gain the experience of challenging conversations in a practical, safe way. You get real-time feedback and improvement.

 

In group sizes of 20-32 participants, via Zoom, you work with a primary facilitator and six actor/coaches exploring scenarios that are customized for your organization.

First there is a customized curated presentation about the organization’s existing culture with a roadmap for growth and a facilitation guide.

 

An introduction to the actor/coaches, their roles, and the scenario.

 

Then everyone observes, discusses, and examines a series of vignettes that mirror real-world situations within your organization.

 

  • These vignettes are done in small groups of 5-8 people, to provide the most hands-on experience. Each vignette is meant to explore and resolve potential issues.

Time Required: 3 hours

 

Step 3. Endurance

To ensure your training sticks, we provide a customized Behavioral Action Checklist for individuals and for the company as a whole. We provide a Resource List that is customized for your organization.

 

Each list is meant to keep your team members and organization on-task towards growth. The Behavioral Action Checklist specifies actions needed to foster DEI.

 

The Resource List highlights the most appropriate knowledge resources.

In addition, each small group of 5-8 gets three follow-up check-ins of 90 minutes each at 30, 60, and 90 days after the training.

 

These sessions include:

  • Introspective, self-mapping activity to assess yourself, identify our differences, and learn from each other.

  • Roleplaying scenarios around activating empathy, diffusing misunderstanding, etc. and exploring different communication models, like active listening and conflict resolution.

  • Deep dives of “what do you want to explore?” Can include reviewing/exploring issues that arose during the second module or any other dimensions of difference important to the participants.
